Remica Bingham-Risher is the Director of Quality Enhancement Plan Initiatives at ODU. She works with faculty to improve student learning through writing by means of faculty workshops as well as oversees the implementation of Action Projects supported by internal grants that help improve departmental disciplinary writing. Bingham-Risher’s assessment and faculty development work has been highlighted in several texts including, Reclaiming Accountability: Using the Work of Re/Accreditation to Improve Writing Programs. In addition, she teaches in ODU’s creative writing program. Her first book, Conversion (Lotus, 2006), won the Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award, her second book, What We Ask of Flesh, (Etrucan, 2013) was shortlisted for the Hurston/Wright Prize and her third book, Starlight & Error, (Diode, 2017) won the Diode Editions Book Award.
